What will you being doing for Earth Day?

April 22 will mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day. The steps that livestock producers take to improve the environment have been around just as long as Earth Day. Farm families have worked hard to protect and enhance the environment. In fact, 2/3 of cattle farms have been in the same family for 2 or more generations. This is why it is their job to make sure that the land is left in better shape for the next generation.

Today, livestock producers provide more consumers with nutritious food products using fewer resources than the past. The average American farmer feeds 144 people worldwide and in the future will need to feed more. Research has proven that global food production will need to increase 70% by 2050 to feed the population. Livestock producers know this and continually seek ways to increase production and enhance the environment.

As livestock producers, you need to share what you do for the environment. Tell consumers how you are an environmental steward of the land. So this year for Earth Day, share how you are proud to be an everyday environmentalist! How will you be celebrating on April 22? I would love to hear from you! Leave a comment to share how you will be promoting agriculture in your community!
